went to some kid's party yesterday and lost a few more brain cells to silly banter. I basically sat in a hot tub and babbled with some coworkers while their SOs gave me angry looks. it doesn't feel as though i'm speaking with them and more like I'm playing some sort of weird mind game. i learned from one guy the meaning of 'space docking' - he said it is where two guys ... you know what, I'm not going to describe it, it's that stupid.
again im back in this beautiful hotel - nothing new about the disgustingness of the place with the exception of blood on the toillet paper, some TP that refuses to flush, and a long brown hair on one of the towels. the shower is spongey and feels like it will give way any second and ill be swept down the pipes into god knows where. I felt itchy last week when i went under the covers so this time I'm staying above it.
tomorrow morning i move into my new home for the next two months. No more hotels thank god. I'm indifferent on my views on taking a wing senior position. i dont mind taking a management position as organizing cleaning stations and that sort of thing can be planned out and executed with only an hour or two of work - that and i no longer let my fear of authority control as much of me as before.
below are some photos that will be sure to amuse

Kind neat how businesses are taxed on profit, while people are taxed on revenue, eh?

Survived another week - barely. Remember the thing I said about staying the course the least worst idea? I didn't get until the end of the book till this week - and the moral of the story of the American experience in Iraq is that you cannot possibly turn a country into a democracy by force. So - going there was bad, and staying there will solve nothing. Doing the same thing over and over hoping it will get better usually doesn't.
Long story short - best option would have been to go ''oops'' then pack up and leave - let them sort it out and if they're serious about wanting help they would ask for it.
How does this lesson translate over? Well, if you are in a bad situation - either accept it and move on, or do not accept it - try to change it (fairly) and accept the consequences.

Another week in my glorious castle!
People say my room smells - I don't notice it. Well, it does smell slightly of stale carrots. It must be the thing my roommate killed and is keeping in one of his closets.
This morning I awoke at 430 with a sore back and unable to sleep any more. My roommates alarm went off at 515 - but instead of turning it off all I heard was confused/angry mumblings from over there and loud bangs as he attempted to find the off button. The amount of garbage next to his bed was so impressive my other roommate took a photo of it for the records.
I managed to bang my head on the closet door for the first time, that was fun. Oh yes and it is official that I won't be heading home for March Break - because now March Break has been murdered and given a cheap funeral by March Work. This actually made a few people in my class cry. Poor guys - don't they know never to trust a single word to ever come out of anyone's mouth without written proof? Hell, I don't even trust my mother on things she says until it has actually been done. This didn't bother me as I expected it.
Other than that an uneventful day so far.

Ahh the weekend! The part where I can recharge and get some me time. I finished the exam on direct current - made a bunch of silly mistakes but oh well it's done.
Last night we went out to see a hockey game and have a few drinks. Me and another guy quit early - I was really tired from last weeks trip and the draft beer was making me feel queezy.
My roommate kept making these weird loud moaning noises all night and smelt like a mixture of puke and crap. That morning when going to shave I put the can down next to the sink right into a pile of someone elses's dirty fingernails. Also someone decided to puke all inside one of the sinks - how lovely.
This morning made my way to do some banking and set up things to pay for the apartment rentals for the next couple of months. I booked another night in the roach motel. At first it was a nicer room than the last one (two beds not one). I choose the bed closer to the bathroom because the one next to the window has a condom wrapper near it. The guy running this place is some sort of pimp or dealer - horribly out of shape - wearing diamonds, and when i showed up around 1130 he was totally hung over or something.
I'm parked next to a white camaro so hopefully any car thieves in the area would want to go after that one first.

I'm very tired and burnt out today - sick of being in limbo and constantly being treated like the piece of garbage like I am. It's easy to stand back and look at the big picture and think this is a bad place to be - though the opposite is necessary here - you have to narrowly look only one day ahead. Any more than that and only a crazy person would remain along this path. Long distance thinking is not wise - too bad this goes against everything I am.
I'm reading a book on the Surge in Iraq from 2006-2008, and there the American mentality on their campaign is "We shouldn't have come here, but now that we're here we may as well stick it out. We don't know what an end to this is, or looks like, and our ideals in the beginning are never going to happen - but what the hell we can't leave because to leave now would be the greater of two evils."
I think the old adage of a pinch of prevention is worth a pound of cure is a bit off - more like a gram of prevention is worth a metric ton of cure.
That's how I feel about this - overall it seems the least wrong decision would be to stick it out. There are no good options - only less bad ones.
One quiz out of the way today, another one tomorrow, then an exam Friday. I'm not too worried about the theory but the practical I am bad at.

Today is a good day - I have internet access in my room. I agreed to pay some guy 20$ a month to use it. I slept from 7pm to 530am last night. I stayed awake on the ride home by singing along with the music on the radio.
The two hours of sleep didn't make me feel sleepy - but made my brain feel weird and spazzy. I did some homework but I didn't do so well as I was totally out of it.
Dress inspection, room inspection, and a day full of nothing but classes made my head numb. Later tonight I plan on heading out to buy a new towel. The stank of this place has murdered my old one.
A rather mundane day other than that - we have a quiz tomorrow morning and I do not feel that comfortable taking it. Apparently we are finishing Direct Current this week but I don't imagine doing that.

first one
Due to popular demand (2 people asked) I started up another blog as a useful link to interesting finds off reddit or elsewhere and as a place to write out my thoughts in case I get kidnapped or something.
Currently sitting in the Vancouver airport. The following things are irritating me right now:
1. Some Canadian news show is repeating the same things over and over again. Something about how awesome Justin Bieber is - more nonsense on the Egyptian riots winding down (less bloodshed than the Burmese or Chinese ones awhile ago thank God - still ended in nothing much changing), ugh - more nonsense on how everyone should lock in their interest rates now because they're going up again. Their big story was how some premenapausal lady bought a condo and is happy she locked in. Oh yeah and the gov't is slowing down on immigration (is that even possible?).
Oh yes this commercial (HSBC) has this really really really bad music looping (AYII YAII AYII YEAIII BLUAGH BLA BLA BLEGH BLA BLAAAAAA!!! *something something* SAUS AMERICAN WWWWWWAAAYYYY) How exotic and wonderful. I think I'm going to puke.
And this other annoying commercial about people having cloud power. WTF is cloud power?
2. The kid next to me keeps figiting and picking her nose.
3. This loud group of 20something year old guys are hovering around a mac book and howling like hyeanas.
Good points:
I am not on fire right now.
Oh great soon it will be boarding time. Better log off for now.
